Tour itinerary can be seen below.
Arrive into Dhaka on your international flight. You will be collected by our driver and transferred to the hotel.
Our tour starts today in Dhaka at 09:00. Our guide will meet us at our hotel lobby at 09:00, and we'll head toward Old Dhaka. We'll visit key tourist attractions in Old Dhaka throughout the day, including Dhakeshwari Temple, Lalbagh Fort, Khan Mohammad Mridha Mosque, Ahsan Manjil, and Sadarghat River Station with a stop for lunch at a local restaurant at midday. At 18:00 we will embark a traditional ferry at Sadarghat River Station and take an overnight journey to Barisal.
Disembark in the morning and head to our hotel to drop our luggage off before heading for breakfast. We will spend the whole day travelling through the rivers and small canals of the region and visiting markets. Overnight in Barisal.
A full day around Barisal today, again exploring the canals and rivers. We'll see a huge timber market before having a cultural exchange in a local school. At 18:00 we'll return to the ferry to travel back to Dhaka.
Arrive in Dhaka in the morning before heading to the airport for our flight to Bhutan. Arrive in Paro and drive on to the capital of Thimpu, where we will visit the large bronze Buddha statue, Takin zoo and more. Stay overnight in Thimpu.
In the morning, we drive to Punhaka via the scenic Dochula pass before driving to Gangtey village, located in the Phobjeykha valley. Hike around the valley and hopefully see some of the black necked cranes who start to nest here in early November. We later drive to Wangdue/Punakha where we will stay overnight.
This morning we will visit the Punakha Dzong, located at the confluence of the Mo and Po Chhu (mother and father rivers). The Dzong served as the Kingdom's capital for 300 years up until 1955 and was used for the royal wedding in 2011. Afterwards we drive to Khamsumyuelay Chorten for a 2 hour hike down to Lobesa. Here we will visit the temple of Lama Drukpa Kuenley, aka 'The Divine Madman'. He is known to preach Buddhism and subdue evil spirits through the use of 'erotic techniques' and 'obscene remarks'. You can be blessed here by a wooden penis to increase fertility! Afterwards return to our Punhaka hotel where we stay overnight.
Early morning we depart for Paro where will hike up to the famous Tiger's Nest Monastery. Return to Paro town afterwards where we will visit a 7th Century Temple and the Kichu Monastery before having free time for shopping or relaxing around the town.
Today the tour ends and you have the choice to book onward flights with Druk Air to Nepal, Thailand, Bangladesh or India.
