• Arrive in Chad’s capital, N’Djamena, and transfer to the hotel.
• Morning tour of the capital. Start by visiting a local craft market, then walk around Place de Nation—the city’s main square with many statues and monuments.
• Explore local markets, then visit the national museum. Here you can gaze upon the seven million-year-old Toumaï Skull, the best-preserved remnants from humanity’s oldest ancestor.
• Return to the hotel for a short break and lunch. Then set off in the late afternoon for the village of Gaoui, a traditional Chadian village well known for its pottery and architecture.
• Drive east to Mongo, passing through remote villages with lunar-like rock formations as their backdrops.
• Arrive in Mongo late afternoon, where we will set up camp for the night.
• Into the bush we go! We head off-road en route to Zakouma National Park.
• Arrive at the park in time for dinner.
• Settle down in our accommodation, where we will stay for the next four nights.
• Day one of our three-day safari in Zakouma. Each day will consist of early morning and late afternoon game drives through the park—the best times to catch animals out and about.
• Breakfast is served before the morning game drive, and lunch is in between drives.
• After our return from the late afternoon drive, there is time for a shower before dinner. A bar at the accommodation also serves alcohol and soft drinks during the day and evening.
• Take an early morning game drive and search for four of the Big Five: Elephants, lions, leopards, and buffalo.
• Return to the lodge for lunch, then head back out for another game drive around evening time.
• Last day of safaris through the beautiful and underrated Zakouma National Park. What will you see? Four of the Big Five, giraffes, antelopes, warthogs, crocodiles, civets, foxes, hyenas, monitor lizards and more.
• Let’s not forget our friends in the sky. Many birds live in Zakouma and can be spotted everywhere, especially at the watering holes.
• Start the long journey back to N’Djamena.
• Along the way stop for overnight wild camping.
• Rise early to continue the journey back to the capital of N’Djamena.
• Arrive and check-in to the hotel. Take some time to freshen up.
• Head out on the final night for a goodbye meal together.
• Check out of the hotel and transfer back to the airport for your flight home.
