• Arrive at Tripoli Airport with the group and Lupine Tour Leader.
• Transfer to the hotel where we will have a pre-trip briefing before dinner.
• Overnight in Tripoli.
• Drive east to visit the incredible UNESCO site of Leptis Magna. After the visit we will return to Tripoli.
• In Tripoli we can go shopping in the Old Town bazaars.
• Overnight in Tripoli.
• In the morning we will take a tour of Tripoli, including the Italian colonial district, World War II Commonwealth cemetery, and Citadel of Tripoli.
• In the afternoon we will take a local flight to Benghazi, the second largest city in Libya.
• After checking in the hotel we will take a tour of the city, including the headquarters of the Italian forces during their occupation in Libya from 1911 to 1943.
• Dinner at a local restaurant.
• Overnight in Benghazi.
• In the morning we will drive along the coast to Ptolemais; the former capital of Pentapolis. We will then take a full tour of the site.
• Next we continue to Qasr Libya in the Green Mountains, where we will visit a museum that houses more than 50 pieces of mosaic.
• Lunch will be at Albayda, the capital city of the Green Mountain District.
• Continue to Cyrene hotel, where we’ll spend the next two nights.
• Overnight in Cyrene.
• In the morning we will visit the ruins of Cyrene, one of the highlights of Eastern Libya. There has been so little tourism in past years that there are still ancient statues and mosaic sticking out of the sand undiscovered.
• Afterward, we will visit the site of Apollonia and the traditional village of Sousa. Apollonia was the port of Cyrene since the 7th Century BC and it remained as such for more than a millennium.
• Drive back to Cyrene and stay overnight.
• This morning we will drive through some of the most spectacular coastal scenery, visiting two ancient church sites located by the sea. First stop will be Ra’s Hilal.
• Afterward, we will visit the often overlooked site of L’Atrun, where we will have the chance to see the original marble floors and Corinthian columns of the Byzantine basilica.
• After lunch, return to Benghazi (Labraq) airport to fly back to Tripoli.
• Overnight in Tripoli.
• Today we’ll head south to Ghadames, nicknamed “the Pearl of the Desert”.
• En route we will stop at Qasr El-Haj to visit one of the best preserved Berber granaries.
• We will continue to Jebel Nefusa to the “ghost town” of Nalut.
• Arrive into Ghadames early in the evening and stay overnight.
•Today we will have a day tour of the desert town of Ghadames, where we will be amazed by the traditional architecture and laberynthine streets.
• Lunch will be served in a traditional local house.
• At sunset, we will drive with 4x4 into the desert to explore the sand dunes where the Touareg people live.
• Finally we will have dinner in a local restaurant before going back to the hotel.
• Overnight in Ghadames.
• In the morning we will drive to Gharyan, the biggest city in Jebel Nafusa.
• In Gharyan we will take a tour of the Troglodyte dwellings, which are man-made caves at the foot of the mountain.
• We will have lunch in a traditional Troglodyte dwelling, and visit the pottery market at Gharyan before returning to Tripoli.
• Overnight in Tripoli.
• Today we will visit one of the Libyan highlights; the World Heritage site of Sabratha. Here we will visit the Basilica of Justinian, Temple of Liber Pater, Capitolium, Temple of Serapis, Temple of Hercules, among others.
• After a tour of Sabratha we will drive back to Tripoli.
• Lunch will be in Tripoli and then we will explore the Old Town where we will walk through the medina, Arch of Marcus Aurelius and Santa Mariadegli Angeli Church.
• In the evening we will enjoy a dinner party to say goodbye to a fascinating trip through Libya’s most undiscovered places.
• Overnight in Tripoli.
• Today the tour ends and we will be transferred to Tripoli airport for our flight home or on to your next destination.
