Day One, Mar 21 2026 Arrival in Freetown
• Arrive anytime at Lungi International Airport and take a boat across the Sierra Leone River to your hotel.
• There are no arranged activities today, so you are free to spend the day at leisure.
• This evening, your tour leader will arrange a welcome dinner where you will also meet your fellow travellers.
• Overnight in Freetown.

Day Two, Mar 22 2026 Tour of Freetown
• This morning we will visit the Tacugama Chimpanzee Sanctuary. The sanctuary plays a vital role in rehabilitating rescued and orphaned chimpanzees while promoting conservation and environmental education.
• After lunch, we will take a tour of the city, visiting the local market, war memorial and St George’s Cathedral and more.
• Overnight in Freetown.

Day Three, Mar 23 2026 River Beach #2
• Today we will travel to one of Sierra Leone’s most beautiful beaches, River Number 2 Beach.
• The day is yours to spend relaxing on the beach, or taking an optional boat trip.
• We will then transfer to York, where we will check into our hotel.

Day Four, Mar 24 2026 Banana Island
• After breakfast, we will take a boat ride to the Banana Islands, an island group initially inhabited by the Portuguese and later by freed slaves.
• You will have time to explore the island, enjoy the beaches and learn about its past before we return to York in the afternoon.
• The rest of the day is free to spend at leisure.
• Overnight in York.

Day Five, Mar 25 2026 Bo – Heart of the diamond mining industry
• Today, we will travel to Bo, Sierra Leone’s second-largest city.
• After checking into our hotel, we will have lunch at a local restaurant and then take a short tour of Bo.
• Overnight in Bo.

Day Six, Mar 26 2026 Tiwai Island Sanctuary
• This morning, we will meet with the team from Street Child, a charity organisation working to ensure every child has access to an education. The team will take us to one of their local projects in the area where we will have time to meet children and families who have benefited from their work.
• We will then start our journey to Tiwai, and on the way, we will stop at a small mining village, where we will get to see first hand how artisanal mining is done.
• Tiwai Island Wildlife Sanctuary is a community-run conservation project located on the Moa River.
• On arrival, we will enjoy locally prepared meals cooked by community members.
• This afternoon, there is the option to take a river cruise, or a nature walk around the island. Tiwai is renowned for its biodiversity, and we will have opportunities to spot wildlife and bird species.
• Overnight in Tiwai.

Day Seven, Mar 27 2026 Crossing the Liberian border
• Before breakfast, we will take a morning hike through the forest. Then we will cross into Liberia.
• We will travel south to Robertsport, a coastal town previously settled by African American freed slaves. The town later became home to an Allied airbase during World War 2, remnants still remain today.
• After, we’ll check into the hotel and the afternoon is free to enjoy at leisure. For those interested, there is an option to take a short hike to the abandoned ghostship.
• Overnight in Robertsport.

Day Eight, Mar 28 2026 Robertsport walking tour
• This morning, we will take a walking tour of Robertsport, visiting local churches and schools and passing through the town before ending at the harbour.
• This afternoon is yours to spend at leisure, for those interested, there is the option to take surf lessons.
• Overnight in Robertsport.

Day Nine, Mar 29 2026 Journey to Monrovia
• After breakfast, we will travel to Liberia’s capital, Monrovia.
• The afternoon is yours to spend at leisure.
• Overnight in Monrovia.

Day Ten, Mar 30 2026 Walking tour of Monrovia
• After breakfast, we will take a walking tour of Monrovia, visiting the National Museum, Presidential Palace and Pavilion, Unification Park and more.
• We will stop for lunch in the Embassy District, before returning to the hotel in the late afternoon.
• Overnight in Monrovia.

Day Eleven, Mar 31 2026 Tour Ends
• Today, the main tour ends and you can depart for home or continue your travels through West Africa.
