Day One Arrive in Kabul
• Transfer to the hotel and rest before heading to the vibrant bird market. Then we will visit the Sakhi Shrine, a serene space where women gather to pray and connect.
• After, we will visit a local shop to browse for abayas. Here we can even get one custom-made by skilled women seamstresses, gaining insight into this traditional garment’s significance. Next, we will explore a jewellery store to learn how Afghan women wear jewellery for special events like weddings and celebrations, showcasing intricate designs and cultural importance.
• In the evening, we will have dinner at a local restaurant where we will learn about Afghanistan today and how its past has brought it to the present.

Day Two Herat
• After breakfast, we will catch our flight to Herat. Here we will visit a local tile-making workshop, where skilled artisans create the intricate tiles used in Herat’s famous Masjidi Jami Mosque, which we will then take a tour of.
• In the afternoon, we will explore the bazaar, including stalls with traditional fabrics, jewellery and handmade goods. Then, we will participate in a women-led workshop on Afghan embroidery or weaving, learning traditional skills passed down through generations.
• This evening, we will gather at a local food banquet in a welcoming women-friendly space. We will learn about the role of Afghan women in art, culture, and society, highlighting their achievements and ongoing resilience.
• Overnight in Herat.

Day Three Herat to Bamiyan
• We begin the day by visiting the Tomb of Goharshad, a symbol of Herat’s rich history. Then, we will head to the Minarets of Herat, remnants of the city’s stunning Timurid architecture. After, we will explore the iconic 12th-century bridge, a scenic spot where local women often gather to relax and enjoy the surrounding landscape.
• Take a domestic flight back to Kabul and enjoy a picturesque transfer to the peaceful valley of Bamiyan where we will have dinner.

Day Four Bamiyan
• Take in the sunrise from the hotel, which has the perfect view of the Buddhas!
• After breakfast, we will visit the iconic Buddha Niches and the ancient cities of Shar-e Gholghola and Shar-e Zuhak, with stories told by local female historians, highlighting the resilience of women in Afghan history.
• Next, we will visit a local school and learn about the country’s school system as it is today.
• Overnight in Bamiyan.

Day Five Band-e-Amir National Park
• Today we will visit Band-e-Amir National Park, some of the most picturesque turquoise water you will ever see. Here we will take a relaxing walk, ride the famous swans and have a picnic in this serene space.
• In the evening, we will join a women-only Afghan cooking class, hosted in a private home or secret location. Here we will learn how to prepare classic Afghan dishes with local female cooks.

Day Six Mazar-e-Sharif
• After breakfast, we depart for a full-day drive to Mazar-e-Sharif through the Hindukush mountains, crossing five scenic provinces.
• En route, we will learn about women’s health and reproductive rights, freedom of movement and public presence. Get your notebooks ready as this will not be a wasted drive. We will stop for a picnic lunch along the way.
• Upon arrival, enjoy a stop at a women’s cafe known for its ice cream, where local women come to relax, chat and enjoy a treat away from the bustling streets.
• In the evening, we will have a local dinner prepared where we can try some of the city’s famous dishes.
• Overnight in Mazar-e-Sharif.

Day Seven Balkh
• Today, we will visit historical sites such as the Haji Piyada Mosque, Rabia Balkhi’s tomb (celebrating Afghanistan’s most famous female poet), Khoja Parasa Mosque and Bala Hisar.
• In the afternoon, we will visit the Blue Mosque and have special access to the Blue Tiled Mosque of Ali.
• Next, we will visit the bustling bazaars, here we will see the intricately woven carpets, shimmering jewellery, hand-carved wooden items and delicate embroidery. This is perfect souvenir shopping.
• Overnight in Mazar-e-Sharif.

Day Eight Mazar-e-Sharif
• After breakfast, we will travel to the ancient site of Takht-i Rustam near the Buddhist caves and stupas. We will drive through scenic gorges and meet locals along the way.
• We will then wrap up the day with a traditional henna session, enjoying this art form commonly used in celebrations and social gatherings.
• Overnight in Mazar-e-Sharif with dinner and social evening at the hotel with close friends showing us how locals celebrate and dance.

Day Nine Return to Kabul
• In the morning, we will take a flight back to Kabul. Here, we will spend time at a local women’s organization, learning about the empowerment efforts and development programs that support Afghan women.
• We will then enjoy a relaxing afternoon at the Gardens of Babur, followed by a walk up Bibi Mahro Hills for panoramic views of Kabul, a spot where women once gathered for tranquillity and reflection.
• This evening, we will have a farewell dinner, celebrating the women-only adventure through Afghanistan.
