Afghanistan Highlights Tour with Buzkashi – Small Group

Itinerary

1. Day One, Nov 5 2027

   Arrive in Kabul

   • Arrive in Kabul and transfer to the hotel for check-in.

   • At midday, we will take a tour of the city and explore the Sakhi Shrine in the west of Kabul.

   • Overnight in Kabul.

2. Day Two, Nov 6 2027

   Herat

   • After breakfast, we will fly to Herat, where we will visit the Masjidi Jami Mosque, followed by a short visit to the tile factory of Herat, and then the historical site of the Herat Citadel.

   • In the afternoon we will also have the chance to look around Herat Bazaar.

   • Overnight in Herat.

3. Day Three, Nov 7 2027

   Tour of Herat

   • We will start the day by paying a visit to the Tomb of Goharshad and the Minarets of Herat.

   • We will also visit the Guzargah Mosque and the Puli Malaan, a 12th century arched bridge.

   • We will then board a domestic flight back to Kabul and visit the bird market before driving to Bamiyan.

   • Overnight in Bamiyan.

4. Day Four, Nov 8 2027

   Bamiyan

   • Today we will visit several historical sites such as the Buddha Niches, and the ruins of both Shar-e Gholghola (City of Screams) and Shar-e Zuhak (The Red City).

   • Overnight in Bamiyan.

5. Day Five, Nov 9 2027

   Band-e-Amir National Park

   • Today we journey to the Band-e Amir National Park to visit the six blue lakes, before journeying back to Bamiyan in the afternoon.

   • Overnight in Bamiyan.

6. Day Six, Nov 10 2027

   Journey to Mazar-e-Sharif

   • We will return to Kabul, ready to take the onward flight to Mazar-a-Sharif.

   • Arrive in Mazar-e-Sharif and check into our hotel.

   • Overnight in Mazar-e-Sharif.

7. Day Seven, Nov 11 2027

   Balkh

   • Today we will arrive in Balkh, paying visits to several important historical sites: the Haji Piyada Mosque, the tomb of Rabia Balkhi, the Khoja Parasa Mosque, and the Bala Hisar, the ruins of an ancient citadel.

   • In the afternoon, we will also visit the Blue Tiled Mosque of Ali in Mazar-e-Sharif.

   • Overnight in Mazar-e-Sharif.

8. Day Eight, Nov 12 2027

   Buzkashi game

   • We will journey to visit Takht-i Rustam, a hilltop settlement site adjacent to Buddhist caves and stupas north of the Hindu Kush pass.

   • In the afternoon we will attend a Buzkashi game back in Mazar.

   • Overnight in Mazar-e-Sharif.

9. Day Nine, Nov 13 2027

   Kabul

   • We will depart for a full-day drive toward Kabul, through the Hindukush mountain ranges and passing through 5 provinces: Bamiyan, Parwan, Baghlan, Samangan and Balkh.

   • We will arrive in Kabul in the evening.

   • Overnight in Kabul.

10. Day Ten, Nov 14 2027

    Tour Ends

    • Transfer to the airport in Kabul for your departure at any time.
