Ubari Lakes Extension Tour

Itinerary

1. Day One

   Arrive in Tripoli 

   • If you are joining this tour from our main Libya tour, you will be transferred to Tripoli Mitiga airport after breakfast.

   • For everyone else you will be met at the airport in Tripoli Mitiga by our local team and rest of the group before taking a domestic flight to Ubari.

   • Transfer to the hotel for check in and then we will explore the ruins of Germa for the rest of the afternoon.

   • We will learn about the history of the Garamantian Civilisation and their struggle to defend their desert empire against the Romans.

   • At night we will go back to the hotel by the Ubari Dunes.

2. Day Two

   Ubari Lakes

   • Today we will spend the full day exploring the Ubari Lakes.

   • Some of the highlights of the remote Libyan area will be Um el Maa Lake, Mafu Lake, Gabr Ouan and Mindara.

   • Afterwards, we will make our way back to our hotel by riding the Ubari dunes in 4×4 vehicles.

3. Day Three

   Return to Tripoli

   • Today we will say goodbye to our oasis in the Libyan desert and be transferred back to Ubari airport to catch our flight back to Tripoli.

   • Upon arrival we will have the afternoon at leisure to explore the old town and say goodbye to this fascinating country.

4. Day Four

   Tour Ends

   • We will be transferred to Mitiga Airport to catch our flight back to Tunis.
