The Republic of Congo is a captivating nation situated in the heart of Central Africa. It is more widely known as Congo-Brazzaville to distinguish it from its larger neighbour, the Democratic Republic of Congo; two countries divided by the second largest river in Africa.
Itinerary

Day One Arrive in Brazzaville
• Arrive in the capital city of Brazzaville and transfer to our hotel.

Day Two Brazzaville city tour
• In the morning we will attend a traditional dance and visit the craft market before heading for lunch.
• In the afternoon we will visit the Sacred Heart Cathedral and the Mausoleum of Pierre De Brazza; one of the few white colonists who is still held in high regard in Africa.
• Afterwards, we will meet the sapeurs – the ‘society of elegant persons of the Congo’; a unique Congolese subculture dating back to the 1940’s.

Day Three Lesio Luna
• Today we drive north to Lesio Luna; a national reserve dedicated to the protection of gorillas.
• Upon arrival we will travel by boat to 3 different islands where we will have the chance to observe gorillas.
• Afterwards, we will return to the capital city of Brazzaville.

Day Four Pointe Noire
• Fly south to the city of Pointe Noire, the main commercial centre of the Republic of Congo.
• Free time in the afternoon

Day Five Conkouati National Park
• Today we depart for the UNESCO-recognized coastal national park Conkouati-Douli.
• Free afternoon to relax around our camp and on the beach.

Day Six Mangroves and chimpanzees
• We will drive further along the coast this morning before transferring to boats for a trip along the mangroves.
• Stop for lunch before travelling down the river to visit the chimpanzee island sanctuary.
• Afterwards, return to our camp where we’ll stay for a second night.

Day Seven Return to Pointe Noire
• After breakfast return to Pointe Noire where we’ll have the chance to visit the local craft market.
• Rest of the afternoon is free to spend around the beach.

Day Eight Pointe Noire tour
• Visit the African Circle Museum of Pointe Noire; a celebration of Congo’s diverse cultural heritage.
• Drive to Loango Regional Museum and learn about the Loango kingdom.
• Trek down the scenic Diosso Gorge, known as the ‘Grand Canyon of Congo’.

Day Nine Tour Ends / Angola extension
• Today the tour ends. Transfer to the airport, unless you are joining our Angola tour where we will depart early to cross to Cabinda.
